Truck Driver Training class starts for November 13 – December 14 course
Learn to drive the big rigs and prepare for the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) test. Companies are experiencing a shortage of drivers. PDCCC’s professional truck driving program consists of classroom instruction, various backing maneuvers, equipment and safety checks and on-the-road training. This comprehensive 160-hour program not only provides the skills you need, it also includes lifetime free job placement assistance to graduates and lifetime refresher training.
The training school length is 4 weeks for a total of 160 hours (80 hours classroom and 80 hours hands-on) at Paul D. Camp Community College’s Hobbs Suffolk Campus, 271 Kenyon Road, Suffolk, VA 23434. The class will meet Mondays-Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The class day is structured very close to a normal workday. Pre-trip inspections, keeping logbooks updated, and constant backing up and twisting and turning to maneuver the trucks will become habit. You will earn your CDL Learner’s Permit at the beginning of the program.
A prospective student must provide the following at start of class:
- Be 18 years of age
- Have a valid Virginia Driver’s license
- Provide a copy of his/her driving record
– DOT physical exam will be conducted at the beginning of the program (cost is not included in the tuition)

*If you are 18 or older and have lived in Virginia for over 1-year, the tuition may be $1,500.
Other scholarships and financial aid will further reduce the cost
