When I chose to attend Paul D. Camp Community College, I was married and had a child. I also worked a couple of jobs. Paul D. Camp gave me the flexibility to attend classes and take care of my family in the process.
I think the best thing about attending Paul D. Camp was the faculty and staff. They were always supportive and willing to help out in any way possible, even when I wasn’t able to make it to every class.
During the past 20 years, I’ve celebrated four graduations here at Paul D. Camp. I earned a Certificate in Engine Technology and a Certificate in Automotive Systems in 1995, and an Associate degree in Applied Science in Automotive Management in 1996.
Additionally, I earned a Career Studies Certificate in Bookkeeping in ’97, a Certificate in Electricity and a Career Studies Certificate in Industrial and Residential Wiring in 2002. Then in 2004, I celebrated my fifth graduation at the college with an Associate in Arts and Science degree in General Studies.
All of these degrees and certificates were earned with honors, and all of these experiences have helped me become the person that I am today.
I am currently earning a bachelor’s degree at South University and work for the City of Suffolk Public Works Department. My two sons started attending PDCCC to further their knowledge as I did. The next time I am at a graduation, it will be in the audience for my children.
