Paul D. Camp Community College recognized the recipients of the 2011 Virginia Community College Association Showcase awards.
Annually, the Virginia Community Colleges Association sponsors showcases at its state convention that feature outstanding faculty and staff from its 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System.
Faculty criteria include excellence in teaching, significant contributions to education and the community college, and professional/personal development. Support staff criteria include significant contributions to education and the community college, plus professional and personal development involvement.
Dr. Paul Wm. Conco, PDCCC president, congratulates winners, from left: Martha Kello, associate professor of childhood development and reading; Hyler Scott, counselor in student support services; and Laveckia Swan, former administrative assistant for the nursing program.
Another employee, Cheryl Shelton, a computer lab assistant on the Hobbs Suffolk Campus, was also a showcase winner. Due to her untimely passing, her recognition from the college and award from the VCCA was accepted on her behalf by counselor Dr. Alan Harris. The winners were nominated and selected by their peers at PDCCC.
