Office Location: Room 112 I
I have been teaching in the educational arena for the past twenty-three years. I received my B. A. in English from Virginia Commonwealth University and my M. A. in Teaching English from Norfolk State University. At Paul D. Camp, I serve as an Assistant Professor of English. The courses in which I teach include ENF 1 and 2; and ENG 111, 112, 131, and 211. My teaching modalities are flexible as I teach traditional, hybrid, online, and dual-credit classes. As an educator, I use the student-centered approach in my class. The courses in which I teach are designed to help students with diverse learning styles achieve success! My lessons are scaffold so that students build upon their foundational skills and eventually reach a level of mastery of the content through direct engagement, participation, research, collaboration, reflection, and writing! With vigor, I employ various teaching strategies, research based activities, and technology skills to help reach students! At Paul D. Camp, we teach the “whole” student. Our goal is to prepare students for the 21st century workplace with skills needed to go out confidently and competently to make a real difference.
There are so many wonderful opportunities beyond the classroom that make Paul D. Camp a wonderful place to serve! Having received the Paul D. Camp Excellence of Education Award for 2010-2011 and the Professional Excellence Award for 2013-2014 and 2014 and 2015, I have truly been blessed to serve. Moreover, serving as the Literary Club’s sponsor has been a joy to see students evolve into profound leaders as they create and implement the annual Paul D. Camp Literary Festival and serve students and the community through volunteering and other outreach efforts. Serving at Paul D. Camp is a remarkable opportunity to make an impact on tomorrow’s future!
