Karen Jenkins of Suffolk, a 2012 honor graduate of Paul D. Camp Community College, received recognition during the college’s May 11 commencement exercises for her participation in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society’s 2012 All-USA Community College Academic Team competition. She was nominated for her commitment to academic excellence and community service.
Jenkins has been very active at PDCCC. She is a member of the Classified Personnel Association (CPA), the Student Government Association. She was selected to represent the college at the Virginia General Assembly and to serve as a Presidential Student Ambassador. She served on the Presidential Inauguration/40-Year Anniversary Committee and coordinated the CPA’s Spring Fling festival to raise money for scholarships. She is a part-time employee at the Hobbs Suffolk Campus.
In addition to being a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Jenkins graduated Magna cum laude and has been accepted to Norfolk State University’s School of Psychology program, as well as its Honors College. Her goal is to earn a doctorate in psychology and human services.
