Dr. Harriette Arrington was selected by a committee of her peers at Paul D. Camp Community College to receive the 2011-12 Excellence in Education Award. She was recognized during the May 11 commencement.
“Her expertise, knowledge, wisdom, compassion, optimism and humor are tremendous assets to the Paul D. Camp Community College family and our community,” said Dr. Paul Wm. Conco, college president.
Arrington received a bachelor’s degree from Virginia State University, a master’s degree from Ohio State University and a doctorate from Purdue University. Serving as dean on the Hobbs Suffolk Campus, she is a leader who motivates employees to be their best.
In the classroom, she provides engaging, innovative and inspiring lessons and collaborates with faculty to offer integrated lessons, projects and assignments.
She is a member of the Suffolk Literary Council and the Suffolk Public Schools Advisory boards. In addition, she serves on the Strategic Planning Committee for Isle of Wight schools and as a national consultant for literacy and student engagement.
