Paul D. Camp Community College Professor Earns Doctorate

Justin Oliver

Justin Oliver, mathematics professor at Paul D. Camp Community College, has earned his Doctorate of Education degree in higher education administration from Regent University.

 

Oliver began teaching as an adjunct faculty member in 1998. Hired as a full-time instructor in 2004, he teaches all developmental courses, math for liberal arts, pre-calculus and statistics.

 

A 2007 recipient of the Virginia Community College Association’s Showcase Award, Oliver also serves on the Planning and Effectiveness Committee, the Quality Enhancement Plan Committee, the Developmental Math Redesign Curriculum Team. In addition, he serves as campus leader for the redesign of the college’s developmental math initiative.

 

During the summer of 2011, he was selected to attend Virginia Community College’s first Chancellor’s Developmental Education Institute offered in partnership with the National Center for Developmental Education. A unique professional development opportunity, the institute was modeled after the Kellogg Institute.

 

Oliver is a resident of Suffolk.
