PDCCC Presents Black History Program

In honor of Black History Month, the Rev. Dr. Carl Sweat presented “A Woman with Pearls” at the Paul D. Camp Community College Regional Workforce Development Center.

Sweat is coordinator of PDCCC at Smithfield and pastor at Laurel Hill United Church of Christ. “This special presentation was soul-stirring, reflective and motivating,” said Student Activities Coordinator Mechelle Blunt. “It revealed that there is strength gained from struggles.” The event featured remarks by Student Government Association officers Brenda Jenkins, vice president; Melissa Reid, historian; Kabrina Joyner, secretary; and Theresa Keys, member. In addition, student Kent Barnes performed two solos.
