The Paul D. Camp Community College Office of Student Activities hosted food drives to bring happiness to needy families in the campus community.

In Smithfield, Dr. Carl Sweat, coordinator of PDCCC at Smithfield, presented a Thanksgiving basket to Al Mayo, who shared his story of being homeless.

Student Activities Coordinator MeChelle Blunt said, “It brought joy to my heart to know that PDCCC students and staff were able to give so generously and share during a time of thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for!” Deloris Edwards, office assistant in Smithfield, worked diligently to ensure that the box was filled with all the trimmings for a well-rounded meal.

The Franklin Campus partnered with the Franklin Mustang cheerleaders to present a basket of food to a local food ministry.

“The enthusiasm of Thanksgiving permeated throughout the halls on the Franklin Campus as we assembled the food basket,” said Blunt. “We couldn’t do this without Food Lion of Courtland, which donated the turkeys, and everyone else who donated items and their time.”

Blunt added that the student activities office looks forward to strengthening the student activities program to include more competitive events, and continued public and community service during the spring semester.”
