Paul D. Camp Community College student leaders weathered Hurricane Sandy to attend the Virginia Community College System’s annual student leadership conference held in Roanoke Oct. 26-28. The theme of this year’s session was “Learn, Thrive, Succeed Together.”

According to Student Activities Coordinator MeChelle Blunt, keynote speaker Jason LeVasseur, an award winning singer/songwriter, delivered a motivational presentation titled, “Get Your Show on the Road.” Blunt said, “His message addressed finding your passion and embracing your own inner rock star.”

The PDCCC Student Government Association’s project regarding “Waiting to Text” was featured and displayed as a campus-wide project of merit during the conference.

Blunt said, “The conference gave us an opportunity to network with other student leaders and plan activities that will engage more students on our campus.”

Participants will share and provide feedback from the conference at an upcoming SGA meeting.

“It was a pleasure to participate in this year’s leadership conference with our wonderful student leaders,” said Blunt. “They are energetic, innovative and all about teamwork.”
