Over the past four years, it has been an honor to serve as an English instructor at Paul D. Camp. Our college strongly supports faculty as we seek to grow in our field of study. I have grown through many opportunities to take professional development workshops, graduate courses, and an even a class at Paul D. Camp to advance my technological skills. Coming to Paul D. Camp was a tremendous blessing!

Paul D. Camp has been a blossoming ground for me. Professionally, the academic freedom allowed has given me a chance to incorporate numerous innovative collaborate projects in my writing classes. Students have developed exemplary service learning projects, become involved in their communities, advanced their technology skills, and gained a greater sense of how oral and written communication connect to the real world.

As a faculty member within the English department, my collaborative skills have also increased as I have worked with members within and across disciplines to develop lessons, projects, and curriculum. Paul D. Camp is a place where everyone works together to accomplish the mission at hand.

Moreover, new ideas are encouraged and celebrated. One such idea was Paul D. Camp’s first Literary Festival. Administrators, faculty, staff, and students rendered their support to help create and implement this major event. Now, the festival has become a mainstay to which the Paul D. Camp family and the community-at-large look forward.

Indeed, teaching at Paul D. Camp is one of my greatest joys. Not only am I able to serve with wonderful colleagues, administrators, and staff, but I also have the opportunity to connect with diverse students with exciting academic and career goals. These students bring such richness to our campus. Helping my students find their voice and power as communicators is a true educator’s moment. For me, Paul D. Camp is a jewel beyond comparison.
