The following students were recipients of spring 2012 scholarships at Paul D. Camp Community College:
Veronica Handy of Smithfield. A graduate of Smithfield High School, she is majoring in administrative support technology. The first in her immediate family to graduate from college, she will receive her diploma this month. Her plans are to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Handy is the recipient of a Kiwanis Club of Smithfield Scholarship.
Ida Thompson of Suffolk. She is studying education at PDCCC, with the ultimate goal of majoring in psychology with a minor in education. She plans to attain her license in professional counseling. Thompson received a Cross Realty Career Grant, the Perry R. Adams Scholarship and the King’s Fork Woman’s Club of Suffolk Scholarship.
Sherita Waddler of Smithfield. A general studies major, she hopes to open group homes for children after graduation in 2013. She works in the financial aid office at PDCCC. Waddler is the recipient of a Kiwanis Club of Smithfield Scholarship.
Tamara Williams of Wakefield. A nursing major, she graduated from high school in South Dakota. She is scheduled to graduate in May, and will begin looking for a job in nursing. She is a member of the PDCCC Nursing Student Association and the National Student Nursing Association. Williams is the recipient of the Ryan L. Kirkland Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Students.
