Digital Photography: Take Your Best Shot

From practical advice to hands-on photography, award-winning photographer, Shirley Whitenack, will teach this photography workshop that will empower you to take control of your camera and unleash your creativity. Through lecture and demonstration this class will reinforce photography as well as teach techniques to improve the artistic elements of your photography. Learn when and why to shoot in the various camera modes and how to use exposure when compensation. On-location shooting will provide opportunities to fully utilize directional light, learn how and when to add flash outdoors, use photo reflectors, and exploit depth of field. Learn to incorporate the rule of thirds, use power points, utilize leading lines, and practice depth of field techniques as you create effective and dramatic compositions.
Throughout the class, we will analyze histograms and review/critque photographs. Class wrap-up will include a discussion of printing options, organizing and archiving images, photo resources, and follow-up questions. Each participant will receive photography handouts to keep for future reference.
Particpant must bring camera(s), battery charger, instruction manual, digital media, tripod (optional), laptop (optional), a few good and “not so good” photos you have taken and your questions.
