Student Email FAQs

Do I have access to e-mail as a student?
Yes. The college uses Google Mail, or G-Mail to provide e-mail access to students.

How do I find out my e-mail address?
After you have applied to the college, a VCCS ID is generated for you. Typically this is your initials followed by a number. To find your e-mail address, you may visit MyPDCCC and click on the “Look up your username and set your password”. More detailed steps can be found at My Accounts.

How do I add my student e-mail to my Smart Phone?

  • Download the gmail app
  • Enter your student email address (
  • Enter your password
  • Allow time for it to sync

How long can I keep this e-mail address?
Your e-mail will remain permanently. You may continue to use the e-mail address even after you have graduated or are no longer taking classes.

Can I use Outlook to access my student email?
Yes, the following are the standard configuration instructions:

I deleted something that I shouldn’t have and then emptied my trash, can you recover it for me?
No. We do not control the server on which your mail is located. This is controlled by Google.

Can I use mail forwarding?
Yes. After logging in to your student e-mail, click on the gear in the upper right-hand corner of the window, and then click on Mail Settings. Forwarding should appear as one of the tabs. Google hosts documentation on how to accomplish this task by clicking on the Learn More button.

Can I give this e-mail address out to friends and family?
Yes. Just be mindful that the more you publicize your e-mail address, the more you open the door for spam and unsolicited messages.
