After winning two post-season championships, the Camp Community College baseball team is headed back to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III World Series for the second straight year.
Camp won the NJCAA Region 10, Division III championships for the second straight year the weeked of May 3-6. The Hurricanes defeated Surry Community College 8-1 in Martinsville on May 6 to capture their second straight title. Surry was the top seed in the tournament and Camp was the #2 seed.
Camp also defeated Caldwell Community College 10-2 and Surry 7-6 in a previous round to reach the finals.
Camp’s Head Coach, Daniel Rollins, was also named the NJCAA Region 10, Division III Coach of the Year for the second straight year.
Camp advanced to the NJCAA, Division III Mid-Atlantic District Championship in Monroeville, PA. The Hurricanes swept Community College of Allegheny County in a best of three series on May 12 to capture their second straight Mid-Atlantic championship.
By winning the Mid-Atlantic District, Camp received an automatic bid to the NJCAA, Division III World Series in Aubrun, NY May 25-30.
The Hurricanes were ranked #7 in the nation in the NJCAA, Division III poll as of May 13.
