What is the eBook Collection by Ebsco?

The eBook Collection is a collection of books presented in a digital format that is provided by Ebsco. The collection contains over 50,000 titles of books, and the full content of each book is intact.


How do I access the eBook Collection?

The eBook Collection resources can be accessed two different ways.

Direct Access to the eBook collection only:
To view only the eBooks available in PDCCC’s collection, go to the PDCCC Library’s homepage and click on eBook Collection (Ebsco).

Through the PDCCC Library Catalog:
When searching for a book in the PDCCC Library Catalog, eBooks are denoted with a call number of Internet — Books — Online Access. To access these books, you must click on the external link (under the section labeled Ext Link) where it states {An e-book available to listed colleges’ users only. Consult library web site for more information. }


How do I search the eBook Collection for eBooks?

You may search eBook Collection (Ebsco) using keywords, titles, authors, or subjects. Type the information for which you are searching into the search bar, and click Search.

  • Be aware that there is also an Advanced Search option offered underneath the search bar.

How do I view my eBook Collection search results?

Your search results come up automatically after conducting a search. To get more information about the eBooks in your result list, simply click on the book’s title and more information will appear. To read the eBook contents online, click on eBook Full Text.


How do I navigate through the content of the eBook I have chosen?

Once you have selected the eBook you would like to view and the book cover is displayed on the screen, there are several ways you can navigate through the eBook.

By content:
The table of contents for the eBook will appear on the left side of the screen (labeled Table of Contents). You can click on any of the content sections of the book, and the eBook Collection will automatically direct you to that section.

‘Page-by-page:
You can go page-by-page by using the forward and back arrows buttons located on the bottom of the page under where the e Book contents are displayed.


Can I use the eBook Collection from home?

Every PDCCC affiliate has access to the eBook Collection from home as it is now part of the Ebsco database series. To access the information housed in Ebsco, it will ask the user to enter their MyVCCS username and password, which is what is used to log into Blackboard and SIS, if you have not already logged into the databases from the computer you are using.
