BIO:
Daniel Rollins became the second Head Baseball Coach for Camp Community College on June 25, 2019 and has since developed the program to become a force at the local, regional, and national levels.
Coach Rollins believes in a holistic approach to coaching so that students succeed on the field and in the classroom. While at Camp, Rollins has accomplished the following recognition for his players and himself:
- Coached over 25 student-athletes that received All-Region accolades
- Coached over 100 student-athletes that received Academic All-Region Accolades
- Coached teams that won the 2023 & 2024 NJCAA Region 10, Division III Championship
- Coached teams that won the 2023 & 2024 NJCAA, Division III, Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship
- Coached teams that competed in back-to-back NJCAA DIII World Series in 2023 & 2024
- Won multiple Coach of the Year Awards for the 2023 & 2024 seasons
- Placed more than 65 student-athletes that continued playing or continued receiving their 4-year education
- Coached teams that consistently maintained a 3.0 average GPA
- Helped enroll and advise new and returning students
- Met with students to create an action plan to be successful during their academic career with Camp
- Worked with students to find solutions to their struggles in the classroom
Rollins has vast coaching and scouting experience at different levels of baseball. Before taking over the Camp program, he spent two years coaching at Bryant & Stratton College. At BSC he led the recruiting effort and managed the pitching staff on game days. He was also the Head Coach for their developmental games. During his time at BSC Coach Rollins helped place many of his student-athletes at four year schools following their playing careers.
Rollins was an Associate Scout for the Cincinnati Reds for four years and before that worked in the same position with the Atlanta Braves.
Rollins also spent two years as the Director of College Recruiting Operations for the Baseball Factory. At the Factory he worked directly with helping players successfully move to the collegiate level and was also on the Under Amour All-American Game Selection Committee.
For two years he was an assistant baseball coach at George Mason University where he worked with hitters, outfielders, and coaching first base. During his time at Mason he helped coach multiple players who went on to play professionally, including 10th round Angels draft pick., Chris O’Grady, who pitched two seasons for the Miami Marlins.
Prior to George Mason, Rollins was an assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College where he worked in multiple areas for the Yellow Jackets. His responsibilities included working with outfielders, hitters and recruiting. He helped coach the Yellow Jackets to a 2011 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship and NCAA Regional appearance.
Rollins spent the 2010 season coaching at George Washington University where his primary responsibilities included working with outfielders, hitters and coaching first base. During his time with the Colonials, two players were selected in the MLB first year player draft, Eric Cantrell in the 7th round and Tom Zebroski in the 45th round.
For two summers Rollins coached the New Market Rebels serving as the pitching coach in the prestigious Valley Baseball League. In both seasons, he helped lead his staffs to top five finishes in team ERA. He coached five players that have gone on to play professional baseball while in New Market.
Rollins is a native of Hartfield, VA, and played collegiate baseball at Randolph-Macon College. He graduated from R-MC in May of 2009 with a degree in Political Science. He currently resides in Smithfield, VA with his wife Leslie and their daughter Riley Ann.
