ACADEMIC COUNSELING
Academic Counseling offers an array of strategies and techniques to help students stay in school by working through any problems that may prevent them from completing their academic goals.
CAREER COUNSELING
Career Counseling helps develop career goals by providing information and helping students match their aptitudes and interests to appropriate careers.
TUTORING
Tutoring is a very important component of the SSS program. It provides students with individual tutoring in various subjects to supplement the classroom instruction. We also provide online tutoring. Online tutoring is simple, fast and always available. Students connect to a live educator/tutor from any computer that has internet access.
TRANSFER INFORMATION
One of the primary goals of SSS is to assist students with questions and concerns about transferring to a four-year college. The transfer coordinator assists students with the following:
- Coordination of Four-Year College Campus Visits
- Transportation and Local College Tours
- Establishing Contacts
- Transfer Process Assistance
- Guidance in What to Look for in a College/University
CULTURAL ENRICHMENT
SSS provides opportunities for students to broaden their background and cultural experiences through planned trips and activities. Trips include dramatic and musical performances, lectures, historical sites, and sporting events.
FINANCIAL AID ADVISING
Counselors provide information to students about financial aid programs, assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and provide assistance and information to improve the financial and economic literacy of students.
GRANT AID
Grant Aid is a financial stipend awarded at the end of each semester to a selected number of SSS students who meet or exceed the eligibility requirements.
DISABILITY SERVICES
SSS provides comprehensive support for SSS students who have special needs and/or disabilities. SSS Counselors arrange individual accommodations for SSS students and work closely with faculty to ensure academic accommodations are in place and utilized.
