Distance Education at Paul D. Camp Community College offers exciting, convenient, and affordable course options.  Camp offers several online classes that can be found by accessing the college’s schedule of offerings. The college also partners with Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) in a Shared Services Distance Learning (SSDL) agreement.  This agreement allows Camp students to access several pre-selected course offerings from NOVA’s SSDL course schedule. For more information concerning Shared Services Distance Learning, please contact Audrey Lawrence at 757.348.0843 or alawrence@pdc.edu

Additionally, Camp has several programs in which all required courses can be completed through distance education.  These include:

  • General Studies degree, and the General Education certificate
  • General Studies – Computer Science
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Business Administration
  • Administration of Justice

Prospective students who have questions about distance education should contact the Office of Admissions. Current students should speak with their academic advisor.  Students who have a complaint about Camp’s distance education are requested to follow the college’s Complaint Policy.

NC SARA Seal

Paul D. Camp Community College has been approved by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. This allows Camp to offer distance learning programs and courses to residents of member states without seeking state-by-state approval. As of July 2019, 49 states (all but California), the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands have joined SARA.

To meet state authorization requirements, it is very important that Camp knows your local address each semester. This is the address where you are physically located when enrolled in school and taking courses. This address might be different than your billing address or the permanent address that you consider your official home residence. It might also be different than your local address for the previous semester. If your local address changes for any reason it is a student’s responsibility to promptly update their record in SIS.

All of Camp’s licensure-related programs meet the requirements of the relevant licensing boards in Virginia. However, a program may not meet the licensing requirements for a particular state outside of Virginia. If you are seeking employment in a state outside of Virginia, you should contact your Program Advisor or Dean for assistance in determining whether the program meets the licensing board requirements in your state.
