Workforce Financial Assistance Eligibility Process

Overview

This guide outlines the steps to determine your eligibility for FANTIC/G3 Financial Assistance offered through the Commonwealth of Virginia via Camp Community College Workforce Development.

  • Assistance is first come, first served.
  • You may be asked to provide documentation such as driver's license, proof of address, tax return (Form 1040), or SNAP card.
  • For help, contact Workforce Development at 757-569-6050.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Create a Profile

  • Visit: Camp Community College Site
  • Click 'LOGIN/CREATE ACCOUNT'
  • Returning students: log in with existing credentials.
  • New students: click 'Create New Profile'

Step 2: Register for Class

  • Click Browse and Select Student Orientation and Financial Eligibility Class.
  • Click 'Add to Cart'

Step 3: Domicile Information

  • New students: answer questions about Virginia residency.
  • Returning students: initial the WCG release form and click 'SUBMIT'.

Step 4: Financial Assistance Eligibility Form

1. Tuition Assistance: Select NO if applying for financial assistance (G3/FANTIC) and you are not receiving financial assistance from another outside source such as:

  • Employer Assistance -Your employer is paying.
  • WIOA- Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act
  • Employment & Training, Virginia Initiative for Employment Not Welfare (VIEW)
  • Other Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitation Services programs
  • Other federally funded programs

Only select YES you have no interest in any possible grant assistance from the State of Virginia because you are planning to pay for it or have assistance from other sources.

2. SNAP/TANF: Select YES or NO.

3. Selective Service: If you are an 18–25-year-old male you must be registered for selective service to be eligible for this financial assistance. When you select YES, you will be prompted to enter your registration number which can be found at the Selective Service Website.

  • Please note that their site occasionally undergoes maintenance, and since this is a required field, you may need to wait until it's back online to proceed.
  • If this does not pertain to you or you are 26 or older, you can select N/A

4. Dependent Status: Indicate if someone claims you on their tax return.

Say YES if:

  • You are being supported by someone else (like a parent, guardian, or relative).
  • That person provides more than half of your financial support.
  • You live with them or meet other IRS criteria for being a dependent.
  • You do not claim yourself on your own tax return.

Example: If you're a college student and your parents pay for most of your expenses and plan to claim you on their taxes, you would say yes.

Say NO if:

  • You support yourself financially.
  • No one else is claiming you on their tax return.
  • You are filing your own taxes and claiming yourself.

Example: If you have a full-time job, pay your own bills, and file your own taxes, you would say no

5. If you answered no to the previous question, you are now being asked to type your ‘Annual Adjusted Gross Income’ or your AGI. Enter income from Line 11 of Form 1040.

  • This number will need to be entered without commas, example: $10000 not $10,000
  • If you don’t have access to the return:
  • You can request a Tax Return Transcript from the IRS:
    • Visit IRS website
    • Use the Get Transcript tool
    • Choose Return Transcript to see your AGI

6. Household Size: Enter the number of people you financially support based on the number of dependents you claim on your taxes.

Step 5: Submit and Finalize

  • Click the green 'Submit' button.
  • If eligible, you’ll see a confirmation message.
  • If ineligible, call Workforce Development for guidance. Don’t get discouraged as you may still be eligible.
  • Complete checkout: View Cart → Checkout

After Submission

  • Contact Workforce Development at workforce@pdc.edu to ensure we have received your domicile and financial information.
  • You’ll be informed of next steps of class availability, financial awards, and registration.

Remember that you are not officially enrolled or registered for any Workforce class or program until payment is received.  The deadline for all registration and application forms is one week prior to the class start date.  The deadline for all payments is 3 (three) business days prior to the class start date.


REFUND POLICY

No refunds will be given after the second class meeting of any community education course.  Refunds for one-session short courses will be given only if requested prior to the class. Exceptions to these conditions may be granted only by the Operations manager upon the recommendation of the Director of Workforce Development.
